Your Mind Can Save You

People who orry constantly
tend to be far more' stre ful

are able to chieve the degree
of relaxation that they d ire
without . tance beca of
the inability to keep negative
thoughts (about problems, dis
content, personal inferiority and
the likelihood of failure) from
forcing them lye into the
thought proee . The negative
thought create tension, anxiety,
and c of confidence.
People ho worry constantly
ha the follo ing char cteris-
tics:
-A lack of self-confidence
and constant insecurity. (l
hope ey like me but I don't
thin t ey will); a highly sugg -
tib1e mind that creat con-
nt anxiety, and the feeling
of being threatened. (That
person d' gusts me with always
trying to be better than every

-A fear 0 being evaluated

frontations ith trangers. (l
me that I ouldn 't like
him/her from the first meeting);
The capacity to be uplifted
with happin but the equally
potent capacity to uffer an
immediate mood change at the
sligh st hint of a problem.
(l really feeling good until
I thought about my problems);
tendency to be overly
n itive to criticism and fre-
quent worrie about some aspect
of the phy . cal appearance that
is not as good as that of other
people. (I wish I had a better
grade of hair); Continuo
fear that other people notice
the inadequacies that are ob
vious. (I hope they don't notice
my . . . hair, complexion,
no );
-A creative mind and a high
degree of intelligence. (I kne
the right answer but couldn't
get the nerve to answer); A
failure to receive adequate love
and affection as a child. (I
always unhappy as a child.
They cared more about my
sister than me);
-Constant trouble with fears
of various kinds: animals,
height, closed spaces, water.
(I 10 complete control of
myself in that situation); A deep
capacity for affection. (I could
really love someone deeply if I
had the chance);
-A history of not receiving
affection from those to hom
ffection . re dily given. (Why
. it that people are not as nice
to me 1 am to them?); Con ..
stant fear of failure. (l am not
going to take the test becau
I kno that I will fail it);

having done the right thing.

way. Why did 1 do hat I did);

stay at home alone); Becomes
bored easily with people. (They
get on my nerves);

life. But wants it. (I wish I

Although everyone can bene
fit from the wonderful techni
que of guided fantasies the
person who exhibits any or all
of these characteristics will re
ceive a sudden release of stre
when using this technique of
thought control. This techni
que is also known as Guided
Fantasy, Directed Im gery,
Creative Thought Proce or
Po itive Daydreaming.
One of the extraordinary
benefits ot this technique i
its ability to modify behavior
by changing habits. When the
individual achieves total relaxa
tion while concentrating on the
voice of the therapist, won-
derful thing happens. Any
behavioral change that the thea
apist ugge s, and that the
individual want to occur, will
take place when the fantasiz
ing is over. This might be
referred to as a post hypnotic
used, unsucce ful method of
treatment. ore p ychiatri ts
and psychologist are becoming
convinced of the superiority of
thi form of treatment over
any other that is pre ntly in
use. 0 single form of treat
ment is a panacea. However
guided fantasy improved the
effectivene s of nearly every
other form of treatment.

change negative, If-destructive
habits in to positive constructive
habits is one of the most
effective and innovative con
cepts to take place in behavioral
therapy.

Se ber 15, 1975, I was
ntenced in Berrien County to
life imprisonment for second
degree murder. . . . I was con
victed in the Circuit Court of
Berrien before the honorable
Judge S. White, on July 11,
1975 to one countcharge of
aiding and abetting a murder
in cond degree.
A you re d the cond part
of thi letter ple e keep one
thin in mind' and that is I'm not
the murdered in this case.
Terry Langford is suppo d
to have been the murderer in
this c , the person whom I am
charged with aiding and abett
ing.
ow on March 6, 1975
TepY Langford made a signed
sworn statement to the fact that
he would cooperate with the
pro ecuting attorney in all crimi
nal ca s in tum for a chance to
plead guilty to cond degree
murder with recommendation
that he would receive a term of .
20 to 40 years imprisonment.
That Terry Langford impli
cated me as an accessary to a
murder.
Prior to Langford making
the allegations to the police
and the prosecuting attorney, I
w constantly harra d by the
Michigan State Police, namely
Detectives John Karson and
James Gunderson, who ed
that 1 say to them that Terry
Langford committed murder.
When I wouldn't cooperate
with them, they went to Terry
Langford and made a deal with
him in oder to implicate me.
Then I was arrested and
arraigned on first degree murder
and conspiracy.
Prior to my trial, Terry
Langford the individual I was
charged for aiding and abetting
has not yet been taken to trial.
During my trial, Terry Langford
was called to the tand, listed as
a res-gestae witne and refused
to testify consistent with his
prior out-of-court signed state
ment.
The question that has not
been dealt with is this, the cor
pus delicti as to the principal
has never been proven. I was
found guilty of aiding and abet
ting a murder, but the individual
I was charged with aiding and
abetting has never been taken to
trial on the rna ter. He was
arraigned and he had a prelim
inary. examination. He was
bound over to Circuit Court,
entered a plea of not guilty.
DUring my trial he testi
fied that he did not commit the
murder. In fact, he stated that
he didn't know who had killed
her. Also it is a known fact that
Terry Langford has written the
court on numerous cases reque -
ting to be tried for the murder
that I'm doing time for no .
However he never was. Some
time in 1977 around January
through May, charges ere drop
ped in this matter against
Langford.
I believe that I'm being
held illegally in violation of
all e laws in the land.
I have never aided or abett
ed anyone in a murder case. But
at this present time no one ha
been taken to trial for this mur
der but me. So it must be taken
into consideration that Terry
Langford was never tried in this
matter nor was he given any
type of immunity from prosecu
tion. Therefore whom did I aid
and abett? There's got to be a
ghost somewhere becau e I'm
not charged for murdering any
body. The corpus delicti was
never proven to be Langford,
and therefore how could it be
proven against me.
o The bottom line i , it can't
be me. In aiding and abetting
it must be proven that the aider
and abettor knowingly helped or
encouraged another, the princi
pal, to commit the crime. The
principal must be established.
I feel the world must be
made aware of what happened
and what great injustice ha been
done in Michigan's so-called
justice system.
