According to Sandra Steward, head of
the program, they have dealt with 3,000

S27,000 ha been provided to Lake
Michigan College by the Berrien County
Dept. of Social Services to train DSS
clients over the past year, according to
Jerry S. Frank, manager of employment
and training and children's rvice at
DSS screened and referred 97 clients
to Lake ichigan College for vocational
training. The College provide the curricu­
lum, instructors and materials necessary.
The purpo of the program' to pro­
vide short-term training to make people
employable in tho e occupations identi-
fied by local busin and industry
having employment potential, Frank said.

machine shop re the cour provided
far to DSS clients by Lake Michigan Col­
lege, according to Charmaine Kibler, LMC
pecial projects coordinator.
Each course give 120 hour of hand -
on experience and individual attention to
the adult DSS student, Kibler said.
According to Jerry Frank, DSS pokes­
person, of the 97 participants, 17 are
male, 80 are female, all are on ADC.
