The reality of . Do "percepuo proven over the next one hundred yean. For, after all the conver tio d m etings, after the crest on and expan "on of 0 major n tional orpni- tions (the .A.A.C.P. and the Urban Le gue), with very little chang result, finally, one person tood up on a bu in Alabama and said, I no stand fut and face this problem at its origin - and the problem began to be solved. Blac Americans, since 1954, have gone thro , once apin, all of the m tioga, co entiom, conferences, mi n , tel "" n talk silo and "tivity "0 , including ro -playing for hite company busines , production line fore men, educator , social or er , religiou • retreats, and so on. This has been a kind of fie ing by Blac from the sophi 0- ted bigotrY and intellectual prejudice practiced daily again t the BI, c munity by all levels of tod y' community. o , once gain, the Blac American will have to stand f: and face the pro blem at it origin, but this time i will not be in Alabama or against any particular force of white bigots. Rather, the stand must be made in every Blac community, of Americ ,for the real problem this time i our lves. In our de perate need for relief from the constant pressures of bi otry and prejudice, we have "".""""'·""y.pur ed every and any avenue d promi of relief. Up to a point, I will agree with you. en you y, as som will, "this " impo ible," I think of my high school science te cher. Irnpo "bility is a tentative d tr t circumstance. Thil has been de mo rated to be true on many occasions. In this • I believe it is untrue. , the economic and social upheaval being experienced at this time by the United States, it is imperative that they become producer. Our future lie in our ability to become competitors for the same markets that the white community ulitizes fo its economic base. The pre sent energy crisi , the emergence of the Third World an economic force in orld politic and particularly the need of these United St te for solid relation with Africa, affords Black America with a unique opportunity to enter into the economic footr ce on almost equal terms. Bl ck Americans control as much wealth some European countries po their total national wealth. We must ce the pr ctice of being a fiduciary agent of thi ealth to the white CQJMl oity and begin the practice of retaining a greater portion of our own wealth through the ppropriate development of major economic pro ject - projects hich ill create a con tinued cash flow and job development,' controlled by the Black community. To achieve this, we mu utilize every type of business structure known, such as individual proprietor Ips, corporat tio , partnership, cottage indu trie and producer cooper ti e . The Black Church was e ntial to the uccessful development of the great Civil Right Movement. The Church wa the communication core which enabled national movements to remain in con stant touch with the Black communities of America. I pro po that the BI ck Church become th cataly for the creation of local economic developm nt thrusts through the u of the congre gation's Purchase Po er! Before an efficient economic thrust can be im plemented by Blac Americans, table and influential les net work must be . established. This will enabl Black manfacturers to develop becau of the networ 's bility to II tho Bl ck produced product . We should remember, "from srn II acorn, rong 0 grow. tt The b . c ingredient in the ational Blac C ucu 's Plan for Blac Family Survival i the creation of capital resource that are controlled by Blac . In other word , stop being what e are no - a through vehicle for billions of doll rs, If we are to urvive, then th 19805 must be the dec de for Blacks to begin the retention of . much larger portion of "our collective wealth".
