IS T IT GOING to be ni e when that Kal Haven I Trail is finally brought to reality? Our Cornrni ioners have endor d the idea. Kalamazoo County Commissioner have endorsed the idea. o , all that's left to be done i finding million dollar or nd we can have hikers and bikers and nice quite snow mobile zipping across the back of our prop rty. Everybody knows th t the are not - the kind of people who will reach across the fence to pick fruit berries or make holes in the fence if the trees are a littl farther back. Mu t we all sacrifice everything on the altar of 'attracting tourist" or do tho of us who don't sell to tourist have nybody to champion our cause. Why'do you thin that Reagan should be concerned about your n having to go into the armed forces - we know that hi son won't have to go ... ... There is talk of a Talent Show also talk of a Variety Show and still more talk about a Performers orkshop an Art Classes. There will be something for everybody. It's trange, eerie, fri tening, Ii e the quiet before a tonn like waiting for th other shoe to drop - how cou d a vener ble institution like Brotherhood eek, mething that we had suffered thru for all the many years ju t di ppe r, vanish ithout a trace, without a whine or whim mer , like a ip sinking in the night or a tree falling in the middle of the _ forrest when nob dy wa around to say for ure het er its falling made a und or not - like the brainw shin and mind c ntrol in the book "1984" or better still the udden 10 of memory Qf pa t events common in the b k' Th Animal Farm." The quietne s of the di ppearance of Brotherhood Week while not t be regretted becau it d s rem ve me of the hypocricary from the American ene, should at the me time make u aJl take a clo r at the times in which we live - and ponder ur future. TO HEAR MONDAL and Hart you ould thin that they wer running for Pre id nt of I rael. If Je wasn't ther to hold their fe t to the fire they never would get around talkin about the things that we want to hear ... Did you see where our County Com rrussioner found over $300,000 that they didn't know that they had. Don't worry they are not about, 0 cut your taxes. They will find meway to spend it. It ems like no more than year ago that tho same commissioners went over to the court hou one morning and discovered that they (we) were over 300,000 in debt that they didn't kn w about. ow I will be the first one to agree that these financial shenanig n does keep down boredom and keeps one alert by not letting a per n sleep too sound. It might even be good for bringing tourists into the county, but is it good government? Doe it inspire confidence, does it make one think that our com missioners are competent? Is govern ment by teeter totter what we really w nt? Give some thought to it, give some thought to the fact that that these people will be running for re election in few months. Then think about who is to blame if they are put back in office. . Spring is officially he e. y neighbor aero the road has tatted dismanteling his car.
