OW is the time to look up
The Citizen:
There are many interesting things
h ppening among the stars t the pre
nt time. April is the last month in
which to vie . many of the winter con
ell tions in the early evening.
Due to so much overcast during the
last season we have not been able to e
the beautiful winter star as they have
moved across the southern ky each
night. Their cycle has nearly become
finished for another year.
o Drion, that most spectacular
of all con tellations will soon disappear,
but can presently be seen in the west
for few hour after dark. Therefore,
this is an excellent time to view it. Just
remember it looks like a huge domino
m de up of ven bright stars, and is
alway ccompanied by the brilliant
star, Sirius. This tar is the cIo st
to the Earth, nd yet it is 52 trillion
mile a aye
Look al for ercury which h s
made a long dip we tward from th
eastern y where it has been with all
the other plan t for mo t of the winter
months. It will only b visable for
few nights this month on the we tern
horizon as soon as it i dar and will
t soon after. All of the other planet
are east of the sun at pre nt and can .
only be seen in the early morning ju t
b fore dawn.
The next full moon i known a the
Paschal Moon and i the one that deter
mines the date of Ester each year,
which is alw ys the Sunday followin
the full moon of the Spring Equinox.
This year it comes on April 1St hich
is one wee before Ea ter.
A happy Easter to all my star-gazing
friends.
