Out in Van Bur n County
An pology - Correction - What
have you ...
La t week I told you that you can e
haven from Van Buren County I should
have d from SOME of Van Buren :
County. You can't see it from Decatur
and . ju t barely from' Hartford, then
th re is another bad pot 0 er between
Berlamont and Bloomingdale. The rest
of th county i o.k. But if you really
ant to e it good, go over a little north
of B ngor, bout 250 feet from where
the C 0 tracks cro the Arlington
Township line and you can see it ll
Angel flying cherubim fnglng from
to tar, prop ets prophesying,
heavenly choirs singing, that guy with
e trumpet - the whole work. ow
aren't you glad that you live in Van
Buren County?
IT LOOKS LIKE s. Jackson's
little boy Je is giving some of our
le ding politicians real fit. If they
h d chec ed with u inste d of b living
everything that they read in the daily
n spapers they ouldn't be 0 uprlsed
now that everywhere Black folks are,
mo of them are voting for Je e. It's
not that e don't like ondale it's just
th t we love Je more. ot that we
don't kno Hart, but e kno Je
better. ot that e don't trust them,
It's just that e kno th t Je knows
and that Je going to tell it ju like
It Is.
They eep talking bout ho many
mber to build; Je eep talking
bout ho many abies to feed. Every
time they have a debate, J keeps
rat g e that nobody el really
an to talk about, thing that have
never been talked about in a pre dental
campaign before.
Ju I e you don't nd a boy to do
a man' job. e don't need to send
mebody else to raise . t are of
concern to us. Do e kno that we will
have the opportunity to ote for Je
in th general election in ovember?
0, e don't kilo th t he is going to get
the nomination but e do kno that e
are oing to vote for him as long s e
c becau h is th one that we pre
fer. What cond choices e might have
to make in the future is something that
e ill decide in the future.
Th moral of this little story Is:
A good leader soon learns to look over his
shoulder every once in a while 0 that he
can b ure that he is oing in the same
direction s hi follower - they can go
farther without him than he can without
them.'
SI C THIS IS A ELECfIO ye r
and sine so many questions have been
rai d by 0 many people and because we
hate to be a ed to follow a phantom and
becau we think that it's about time to
take the mystery out of what should be
common knowledge besi des, somebody
has got to do it) and what is it? Simply
thi , ho do you tell a Van Buren Demo
crat from a Van Buren Republican?
Our Research Dep rtment has pent
countless hour conducting treet comer
surveys, eyeball checks, reading palms
cretly attending political meetings, and
trying to match action with words.
We don't mind admitting that the
drain on our budget as getting unbear
able 0 we did what we should have done
earlier, our Re arch Department went
out to orth Van Buren State College
and discu d the problem with the head
of the Politicla Science Department. He
in turn called the Dean of the liberal
Arts College out at the University of Van
Buren who immediately recognized the
need to have our question an ered be
fore the election in ovember. The up
shot of all this w the formation of
J oint Venture composed of our Research
Department and departments of the two
rge andmost pre tigiou schools in the
county.

The most brain ower ver a mbl d
to work on one problem in he hi tory of
Van Buren County have nt th last
two month doing personal profiles,
doing p ychological studies tapping tele
phones reading the mail and a ing que -
tions of every prominent politican in the
county.
While nothing d finite has been estab
lished most prelinirnary re ults come to
the same conclusion: after using c m
puters, truth erurn, flipping a coin, hav
ing a blind folded per on stick a pin in a
list of name , checking voting records and
udying the dream patterns of all of the
so-called Democratic office holders and
party official they found that there was
no such nimal - it was an apparition, a
ghost, a figarnent of the imagination, a
shell game, a no you seeJt now you
don t, a hoax, theoritical concept, a
paper tiger, a jok - this was about office

holders and party fficials, the other . de
of this phenomen is that these me
studies show a growing number of honest,
hard working, dedicated committed peo
ple who seemingly align them lves ith
the principles and ideas of that same
party - it's something like a body with
out a head. Further studies by. the Joint

DA FEEL SORRY for tho
poor people in Central America no that
our government i sending "advi ors" in

too often it seems like everywhere that
we send " dvisor "in the people end up
with a bigger ar than they s rted ith
and on top of that the local boys soon
end up getting their b hinds kicked -
check with Viet am or The Bay of Pig
or the Gemayel government in Lebanon ...
Did you send Je a check yet? His
address is P. o. Box 19805, Washington
D. C. 20036. Send him 20 or 25 dollars
this week and some more when you can.

.some money to run with - it's just that
