Atlanta's 28 missing and murdered Black

Atlanta in 1980 was a city in the grip
of an icy terror - a terror based on fear,

months the nation's headlines were
dominated by this case, and the hysteria
surrounding these murders didn't end
until Wayne Williams was convicted at
the conclusion of the largest law-enforce

At the height of the hysteria the FBI,
the ational Police Union, top homicide
police, and even Hell's Angel descended
on Atlanta and turned it into a nest of
"celebrities, politicos, weirdos and certi
fiable crazies."
The cool investigative eye of orth

curious attrition rate, which he states
is important to the case. "The a ttrition c
