Do you feel that Rev. Churchill

Re . Churchill have the right

Does he ha e the right to criticize our

Lawdy Lawd, did you that AACP
leaflet that a passed thru out the
Covert vicinity this p t eek? Thi
column had talked about the preacher'
g line lling practice and the fense
that a put up too clo to the hou
next door to his pl ce of busine . But
that leaflet goe to much more funda
mental issues. It also bring into focus
me po ible future problem between
the previou y au Blac ini er Alliance
and the mo ly Black church membered
AACP.
It ms that the ini er Alliance
s happy to get white member
that before he could even get his chair
arm they had m de him an officer and
he a collecting the due . (what hap
pened; to the long time member who
had held this po ition in the p . not
clear.)
Several scenario pre nt themselve .
One ha the minister convincing the
people of the town that, "100 , he is
nice guy and you ould support him."
Another h the church members
telling their p ors that, "if you ant
him, then e don't want you."
A third one has the to n people
ying, "Loo t that Blac -owned market
down the reet has been meeting our
needs for all these yean and besides
it has alway hired an a ful lot of young
Black folks. So let's continue to support
him."
Still another h the AACP doing
the kind of educational job that it u d
to do, tying together economics and
race pride, dignity and social ju ice,
religion and daily living - corning bac
to its position of leadership in all thing
pertaining to the uplifting of B c peo-
ple. '\.
Whatever·'1he out come of this little
t-to e are certain theat the distribut

Slowly but surely e are finding
out that the t of power in this county
is in Paw Paw, it good to e some of our
folk gravitating over that way.
Can't help but put in my 2 cents
worth into the, con tant comment about
a Blac person running for pre . dent.
The people who keep' telling us that if
e support a Blac candidate that we
will be helping to reelect Reagan keep
refusing to explain how Reagan get a
majority vote on e erything that come
thru the Hou of Repre ntative hile
the majority of member of the Hou
are Democrats.
y are they permitted to vote with
the Republicans on all of the important
legislation that affect all of us, but we
are told that we UST up port them to
keep Reagan out of office? . It sound
like double standard to me and we
don't have to put up with it.
Life under Reagan' hard but since
when w it not hard for a Black per n
in America? With all of the poor bite
folks ho need relief bout bad as
e do if e can hold out ju little
longer they will probably beat u voting
for a Blac candidate.
Of all of the announced candidates
for pre . dent, except for wringing their
hand and ying how b d it i , what
specifically have anyone of them pro
mised or propo d to do that ill m e
things better for us? Which one has id
that he . going to put the Affirmative
Action Program bac on track or make
more money available to inority Bu '

automation and create some jobs that
ill hire "people' ?
If they are our "friend n but can't
