Black people had a culture. They
made great nations. Blacks had
schools and great universities. Black
nations were very powerful.
Africa has al ays been important in
history. Africa is near to two con­
tinents-Europe and Asia.
Today African nations are becoming
great again. The people have gain
their freedom. Africa is a bright shin­
ing land.
Some scientists say that Africa as
the home of the first humans. They
think the first humans lived in East
Africa.

cultures of history. Egypt is in Africa.
Egypt has influenced all the world.
Many things came from the Egyp­
tians. They invented the twelve
month calendar, the seven day week
and a system of weights to measure
things. Egyptians believed in life
after death. Egyptians developed
mathematics and medicine.
Songs, poems and painting were all
done by the people of Egypt.

We all know of the great pyramids
built by the Egyptians. They also in­
vented writing on paper.
Egypt still has many black people.
Anwar Sadat was proud of his dark
skin. The Egyptian people have been
dark for 6,000 years.
Today all of Africa is developing.
Africans are bringing many new
things to the world.
Every day the news is about Social
Security. Most Americans worry about
when they get old. They want Social
Security. Social Security was made to
help older people.
Social Security is taken out of your
check every week. People get a return
when they retire. The money taken put
of your check helps to pay for" the
retirement. Young people give money
to Social Security. They expect to get a
return when they get old.
The government says that SOcial
Security cannot take care of all the
bills. Older people may need more
money. The government cannot in­
crease Social Security much more.

Some people work on jobs that have
pension plans. That is good. Other­
people save money. Still others buy a
house for security. You can do all of .
these. You can put money in an IRA. -
There is a new plan. It is called IRA (In­
dividual Retirement Account). _ It lets
young people put money aside for old
age. That way they ill have more
when they are older.
