Women are on the march. They want
more rights. What are the things that
women want? They want to be given I
individual rights.
Women housekeepers in New York Ci
ty went on strike. They wanted to get a
cost of living pay. They wanted money
to feed their children. They wanted to
be paid on time.
Women have always fought for civil
rights. In slavery days it was women
who fought to free the slaves. As
America grew stronger, women's
rights did not grow. Women were left
behind. Women, like blacks, had to
. fight for their freedom.
Many men are for civil rights. They
still do not understand women.
Shirley Chisholm is a real fighter. The
lady from New York talks about
"another civil rights battle." It is for
women.
Many black women are fighting for
rights that go with being poor. Black

men. Both want jobs, Both want to
live a good life. The battle of black
women is the battle of black men.
Black women are smart. They know
that the low pay is not because they
are women. Blacks do not have
power. They do not like the idea of
women trying to down men. Black
. women are not trying to be men. They
do not ask for a draft. They ask for
equal rights. Black women know they
are fighting for equality. Total equali- •
ty is the song of black women.
Women are often paid low salaries.
They are also kept from getti g better
jobs. Black women know that when
they have power they can get jobs.
That is why black women will not
fight black men.
Black women do not want a few jobs
given to a few "token" women. They
want the right to get the job they are
trained to do. They want all the rights
of every other American.
Entertainment
One of the best movies of today is ET.
It is the story of a little boy named
Elliot and a person from space. The
boy and ET become friends. They are
friends until the end. ET and the boy
share the same feelings.
The movie· starts with a good scene. It
is a mystery. The space ship leaves ET.
He is left alone on Earth. He is reatly
frightened.
He comes to Elliot's house. Elliot is
afraid. The boy wants to know more
about ET. He is curious. One night the
boy gives ET candy. That starts the
friendship. ET is kind of scary at first.
Then you get to like him. He seems to
change after living in the boy's house.
Elliot has a brother and sister. They
grow to like ET, too.
es Your Fac s

tists want to find ET. They want to
study him. The police come with an ar
my ana take ET away.

6. How long was Arletha in training?
7. What is the money you pay for
paying late called?

Everyone thinks ET is dead. The boy

That was the most exciting part of the
movie.
ET is gOOd for the whole family. A few
phrases in the beginning may not be
good for children to hear. Yet, ET is a
really exciting movie. It is rated PG.
