The information contained in this article is taken from a booklet, (The
Rise), published in July. 1977 by the Organization of Iranian Moslem
Students. It gives a clear explanation of the atrocities they say the former
shah committed, the complicity of which they accused the U.S. and
I raeli governments, and the reasons the students are determined to cap­
ture the shah and bring him to trial. At the time the book was published,
the Ayatollah Khomeini was in exile and the revolution that overttlre
the former shah was gaining momentum. The information is reproduced
here with the aim of clarifying the role of all parties involved in the
crisis in Iran. It does not necessarily represent the views of the Citizen
