This case h ppened in the state of Arizona. . Und r duress and coercison Miranda pleaded gUilty to a crime, unlawfully. The Supreme Court ruled as of June 13, 1966, certain guidelines has to be given to an accused before any interrogation can be set forth to ard accused. These rights are called the Mirand Rights, (named • after Mr. iranda,) they are 1.' You have a rights to remain silent. 2. Everything you say can be used against you in a court of Law. 3. You have a Patronize' right to an attorney at 11 pro ceedings. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you at public expense. If at anytime you decide to stop the interrogation, (if you do decide to talk) the police cannot force you in any way to talk. Also, the Supreme Court ruled that in no way can the police use tricks, promises of leniency, or brute force to make you talk. If they do, this is a violation of your Constitutional Rights and a' Civil Suit can be .• brought against them. Nothing can be used by , prosecution or poll in viola tion of this rule.
