Ellis had the dedication of the ne church, the local, ne spaper said: Benton Harbor's new $100,000 cement block Pilgrim Rest Baptist church, corner of East Main and Burton streets, will be dedicated with fitting ceremony Sunday afternoon at '3 o'clock. Pastor of the Ne Bethel Baptist church, the Rev. Mitchell �pberry, will give the dedica­ tory ddress, Other local church ministers, who will have a part on the program, are the Rev. W. E. Ellis, pastor and builder of the fine new edifice; the Rev. W. G. Wilson ofthe Second Baptist church; and the Rev. D. E. Coo of the Progressive Baptist church. , The ne church stands as a monument to the efforts and faith of th Rev. Ellis, ho . . . . . . . . . . .. envisioned the new building, collected the money for its erection, and then constructed it almost entirely himself without charging a cent for his labor. Estimated cost of the building is $75.000. The instal­ lation of lights and furnishings added another $25�OOO, which brings the total expenditure to about the $100,000 mark." Giving freely of her own money and also lending moral support' to her husband during the building program as the paster's wife, Mrs. Ellis. Mrs. Ellis is a teacher in the Sunday school and pianist for the junior choir.
