SANDY AUGUST, 76,
passed away peacefully
on Dec. 11, 2024,
surrounded by family
and friends.
Traveling, ballet,
the Detroit Tigers, and health
and wellness were a few of her
passions. Although she traveled
with many family members and
friends, it was the Travelin’ Trio
that was most special; and Sandy
was the organizer, always finding
the best Airbnbs, flights and
activities. Sandy, along with Gail
Ryder and Laura Gold, traveled
around the world for the past 38
years and shared 40 wonderful
trips together.
Family events were truly
special to her. She would travel
to different states to watch her
nieces perform. She was the
biggest promoter and always so
proud. She was fun and funny,
vibrant, caring, devoted, witty and
patient. People loved to be around
her. Sandy always made you feel
special and took an interest in
what was going on in your life.
She had the biggest heart and not
a mean bone in her body.
Her favorite slogan was, “I
can dray away a day.” She loved
to tell jokes and stories and, in
return, everyone loved to hear
them. Sandy’s loving cousins, Liz,
Lori and Debbie Block, were with
Sandy throughout the past few
difficult months. They shared a
very special bond.
Sandy wanted to do it her way
and she did. She will be missed
immensely and loved forever.
She was the devoted daughter
of the late Benny Stein and the
late Roz Benaim; sister of the late
Cheri Siegal.
Sandy was a devoted sister to
Leslee (Marc) Kohn and Ken
(Kaira) Sherman. She is also
survived by many nieces, nephews
and numerous friends.
