HAROLD GAYER, 86,
of Bloomfield Hills,
died Nov. 30, 2024.
He is survived by
his beloved wife,
Susan Gayer; sons
and daughter-in-law, Eric and
Maya Gayer, and Glenn Gayer;
grandchildren, Ari Gayer, Eli
Gayer and Zev Gayer; many
other loving family members and
friends.
Harold was the dear brother of
the late Charles Gayer.
Interment was held at
Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale.
Contributions may be made to
the Alzheimer’s Association or to
the Michigan Humane Society.
Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel.
MONA
GREENBAUM, 78, of
West Bloomfield, died
Nov. 27, 2024.
Mona, a native
of Newark, N.J.,
graduated magna cum laude from
Kean College of New Jersey with
a major in elementary education.
She studied mathematics at
Portland State University, then
enrolled in an M.B.A. program at
Wayne State University and earned
a secondary teaching certificate
from Mercy College.
She taught at Akiva Hebrew
Day School for seven years and
taught elementary and high school
mathematics in the Berkley School
District for more than 12 years.
She also piloted an elementary
math specialists’ program. After
retiring from Berkley in 1997,
Mona taught part-time at Hillel
Day School in Farmington
Hills, where she created a math
enrichment program. She also
continued to teach in her home.
She is survived by her husband,
Cantor Samuel Greenbaum;
son and daughter-in-law, Rabbi
Alexander and Rabbi Amy
Greenbaum; daughters and
sons-in-law, Dr. Shira and Jerry
Gordinier, and Ilana Greenbaum
and John Sutton; grandchildren,
Jerry Gordinier Jr., Jennifer and
Geordan Komos, Mick Gordinier,
Matthew Gordinier, Elizabeth
Gordinier, Justin Greenbaum,
Harrison Greenbaum, Myles
Greenbaum, Ellie Greenbaum,
Olive Greenbaum and Miriam
Greenbaum; great-grandchildren,
Aubrey and Landon Komos; sister
and brother-in-law, Linda and
Shelly Lichtenstein.
Mrs. Greenbaum was the
devoted daughter of the late
Miriam and the late Monroe
Leibowitz.
Interment was at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park. Contributions
