earned a Ph.D. in Urban & Regional 
Planning, an M.S. in physics, an 
M.S. in mathematics and a B.S. in 
mathematics. His academic and 
professional pursuits were not just 
careers but callings that mirrored 
his deep-seated values of family, 
community and service.
Mitch leaves behind a loving 
family: his wife, Carole Rycus; 
children, Lisa (Saulius) Mikalonis 
and Peter (Meena Bajracharya) 
Rycus; grandchildren, Sam (Dr. 
Natasha Kizy) Mikalonis, Evan 
Mikalonis (fiancée, Lauren Flynn), 
Tyler Mikalonis (fiancée, Emily 
Malmsten), and Abe Rycus; great-
granddaughter, Mila Lou Mikalonis. 
He was a devoted brother to Mel 
(the late Barbara) Rycus and is also 
survived by other cherished family 
members and friends. 
Interment was held at 
Arborcrest Cemetery in Ann 

Arbor. Contributions may be 
made to Jewish Family Services of 
Washtenaw County or to a charity 
of one’s choice. Arrangements by 
Dorfman Chapel.

CHARLES “CHUCK” 
TOLCHIN, 75, of Oak 
Park, died Dec. 2, 2024. 
Mr. Tolchin is survived 
by his wife of 38 years, 
Rosemary Boyce Tolchin; 
daughter, Jaclyn Tolchin; son, Jason 
Tolchin; sister, Janet Belenson; niece 
and nephews, Randi and Kevin 
Resnick, and Darrel Belenson; many 
other loving relatives and friends. 
Mr. Tolchin was the adored son 
of the late Joe Tolchin and the late 
Lillian Tolchin.

RALPH WORONOFF, 
89, of West Bloomfield, 
died Dec. 5, 2024. 
He is survived by his 
children, Steven (Sharyl) 
Woronoff, Marcy (Phil) 
Epstein and Alan (Shira Goodman) 
Woronoff; grandchildren, Daniel 
(Naomi) Wasserman, Ilana 
Woronoff, Scott Wasserman 
(fiancée,’ Rachel Devries), Rachel 
Wasserman (partner, Erica Meyers), 
Jason Woronoff and Brandon 
Woronoff. Also survived by his 
caregivers, Fred Ashford, Derek 
Ashford; many loving nieces, 
nephews, other family members and 
friends. 
Ralph was the beloved husband of 
the late Beverly Woronoff; brother of 
the late Sharon Katz. 
Interment took place at Adat 
Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery in 
Livonia. Contributions may be made 

to Adat Shalom Synagogue, to Jewish 
Senior Life, to the Woronoff Family 
Fund at JARC or to a charity of one’s 
choice. Arrangements by Dorfman
