When his group is not 
performing in Michigan, 
members can be heard 
on YouTube and on 
recordings — Folia with 
Baroque sonatas and vocal 
works by Corelli, Handel, Vivaldi 
and Colista; Night Scenes at the 
Ospedale with violin concerti by 
Honstein and Vivaldi; and a 2: 
Virtuoso Music of the Holy Roman 
Empire with pieces by Biber, 
Froberger, Telemann and Bach.
The Sebastians group 
started performing in 2004, 
and Grossman joined in 2009. 
Besides appearing in New York 
and touring to various cities, the 
group has a residency at the Yale 
Collection of Musical Instruments. 
Although there is an absence of 
music this season because the 
building is being renovated, the 
collaboration has been for about 
six seasons. 
“I played Jewish music on the 
piano and worked on a lot of 
Jewish music,” Grossman said. 

“In the Baroque music, Jewish 
composers weren’t really writing 
music like this. We’re hoping to 
have new music written by Jewish 
composers for our instruments.”
When it comes to technology, 
those interests can be found in 
both his efforts for performances 
and free time activities.
“I do a lot of computer music 
work with classical recordings and 
classical scores for composers and 
my own group,” Grossman said. 
“Pretty much most of my activities 
are musical at this point. 
“I’m also a science fiction 
Star Trek nerd. I’ve always liked 
technology with an optimistic 
view of the future. I’ve always 
enjoyed the idea that there 
are undiscovered things in the 
universe for us to discover.”
