o you like books? Do you
like coffee and sweets? Do
you like meeting with other
book lovers? Do you like hearing
from authors?
If you answered yes to one or all
the above questions, then, we have
just what you need: the Jewish News
Book Club!
We will launch the JN Book Club
with our partner, Schuler Books, at
11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19,2025, at
Schuler Books on Orchard Lake in
West Bloomfield. We will explore
works that will appeal to both Jewish
and general audiences. JN archivist
and columnist Mike Smith will host
the Book Club and discuss books
with their authors.
The Club will kick off with The
Ghosts of Detroit by prolific local
Jewish author, Don Levin (see review
on page 54 or at thejewishnews.
com). Those in attendance will also
have opportunities to ask questions.
The JN Book Club is free and
open to all. Mention the book club
at Schuler Books for a 20% discount
on The Ghosts of Detroit. Don will be
pleased to sign your book for you.
And you will receive a swanky JN
Book Club swag bag!
See the ad in this issue of the JN
for further details of this exciting
event. We would like you to RSVP.
It’s a simple form, and it will also
serve as your Book Club member-
ship. We’ll send you news of future
meetings at Schuler Books and Book
Club newsletters.
We hope to see you there!

This Chanukah, there are many ways to support Israel and its people, but none is more

transformative than a gift to Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical system. Your gift

to MDA isn’t just changing lives — it’s literally saving them — providing critical care and hospital

transport for everyone from victims of heart attacks to casualties of rocket attacks.

Join the effort at MagenDavidAdom.org or call 866.632.2763.

NO ONE SAVES MORE LIVES
IN ISRAEL IN TIMES OF CRISIS.
