DECEMBER 5 • 2024 | 17 people and solving their problems, whatever they are,” Frank says. “Everybody’s just so great, and I’m happy to do it.” Frank is not an anomaly in his family. He has a grandmother who’s lived to 104, a sister who’s lived to 103, a brother who’s lived to 100 and another sister who’s lived to 97. “I am very fortunate,” he says of his genes. And he’s making the most of them. “Working at 100, it fulfills that I’m still useful, that I’m still being productive. And if I’m able to, I will continue,” Frank says. “The idea of not working and sitting home all day will just end up with me getting blisters on my rear. This is life, the way it should be.” Originally from Montreal, Frank moved to Windsor in 1960. He worked in a manufacturing factory during WWII and eventually found- ed Wallpaper World of Windsor in 1976 and operated the store for many years. In 2001, he joined the Home Depot part-time, and he’s been there ever since. Frank has been a member of Windsor’s Congregation Beth El since its inception. For many years, he was the building chairman and did a lot of work himself in keeping up the building. Judy says her husband doesn’t take any medications and gets around without a cane or a walker. “He’s an amazing person,” she says. Both of them were taken aback by the tribute Home Depot put on. “They put on this fantastic cele- bration, which we were astounded at. He’s a humble man, and he’s just overwhelmed at all this.” Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens joined the celebration, with birth- day wishes on behalf of the city of Windsor. If the party itself wasn’t enough of a gesture, Home Depot made a sign that reads “The David Frank Aisle” in the hardware department. Surrounded by nuts, bolts and screws — and family, friends and overflowing love — 100 years of a remarkable man’s life were celebrated in an aisle where customers will continue to have their problems solved. Frank’s Home Depot renamed the aisle in his honor. Do a mitzvah by volunteering on Christmas Day. Join hundreds of others from the Detroit Jewish community giving back on Christmas Day.
