HELENE SINGER, 90, 
former Detroiter of Los 
Angeles, Calif., died in 
July of 2024 after a long, 
full life.
She graduated from 
UCLA, did clothing 
modeling and then 
voiceover work for several large 
companies. She also acted in some 
movies. In Los Angeles, she had 
leading roles in several Broadway-
style plays and for several years was 
the lead newscaster for a large radio 
station.
Helene was also into real estate and 
did well buying homes, rehabbing 

them and flipping for a profit. She 
had impeccable taste and was able to 
sell them easily.
Helene loved to dance and went 
to dance clubs and would often 
dance for hours. In addition, she 
was an avid tennis player (champion 
doubles), and she also enjoyed golf. 
Her travels included Russia, Africa, 
South America, the People’s Republic 
of China, Japan. She also visited most 
of the 50 states.
Her smile and great mood made 
her many friends.
Helene was married and had 
two children, Mark Rubenstein 
and Laurie Rubenstein, both of 
Portland, Ore. She is also survived by 
many first cousins, Dr. Jack Singer, 
Charlotte Artbit, Harvey Singer, 
Bobby Singer, Harvey Fink, Arnold 
Fink and Marsha Bell.
Interment was in Southern 
California.

SHELDON D. STERN, 
M.D., 94, of West 
Bloomfield, died Oct. 28, 
2024. 
Dr. Stern is survived 
by his daughter and son-
in-law, Gayle and Gary Eubanks; 
son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy 
and Hildy Stern; grandchildren, 
Dr. Emily and Ryan Abbott, Noah 
Eubanks and Kim Anderle, Joshua 
Stern, Ari Stern, Eban Stern and Seth 
Stern; great-grandchildren, Connor, 
Cleo, Lily, Oliver and Awa; brother-
in-law, Dr. Irving K. Arenberg; many 
loving nieces and nephews. 
Dr. Stern was the beloved husband 
for 65 years of the late Jessie Stern; 
the loving brother of the late Beverly 
Skilken; the devoted son of the late 
Mary and the late Samuel Stern. 
Interment was at Beth El 
Memorial Park. Contributions
