Rabbi Shneur Silberberg of the
Bais Chabad Torah Center in
West Bloomfield is offering a
new series beginning Nov. 17.
 “In Nurturing Relationships,
we’ll share Torah ideas that
will empower you to enhance,
enrich and nurture all your
interpersonal relationships — at
home, at work and beyond,”
Rabbi Silberberg says. “In
the six classes, we’ll discuss
empathy, listening, disagreement,
positivity, influence and
forgiveness. I am confident that
the timeless Jewish wisdom
on these topics will have a
significant, positive impact on
your life.”

 The classes are accredited
for medical and mental health
professionals. The course begins
the week of Nov. 17, and will be
offered on Sundays and Tuesdays,
in-person and on Zoom. The
cost to attend the course is $60,
and the cost of a textbook is $30
($90 total).
Scholarships are available,
thanks to the Mara Israel
Jewish Education Fund. A
complimentary breakfast will be
served before the Sunday classes.
The series is produced by the
Jewish Learning Institute (JLI).

Relationships’ Series Begins Nov. 17

Higher Hopes! is celebrating
its 11th year of feeding 1,000
Detroit families facing food
insecurities for Thanksgiving.
The nonprofit will distribute
1,000 full Thanksgiving meal
kits on Monday, Nov. 25, to
families from Detroit Head Start
programs and Brilliant Detroit.
Each meal kit contains all the
ingredients needed to make a full
Thanksgiving feast: turkey, gravy,
stuffing, green bean casserole,
Jiffy corn bread, cranberry glazed
sweet potatoes, dessert and pop.
In addition, each family will
receive a $50 gas card, high-
efficiency light bulbs thanks
to a generous donation from
SEEL, and Michigan Humane
will be on hand to distribute cat
and dog food to all pet owners.
A donation match campaign,

courtesy of several donors,
will be held in the run-up to
Thanksgiving to fund this and
other events that benefit families
in need. Volunteers are always
needed to pack up the non-
perishable items on Saturday,
Nov. 23, and help distribute kits
to the families on Monday, Nov.
25.
“Giving families the ability
to celebrate the holidays with
loved ones in their own home is
at the core of the Higher Hopes!
Mission,” says Higher Hopes!
founder Bill Birndorf.
Higher Hopes! has distributed
over 2 million lbs of food and
hopes to increase that number in
2025. Corporate and individual
contributions are always welcome
and can be made at www.
higherhopesdetroit.org.
