atchy melodies and uni-
versal messages that are
all part of the renowned
Motown sound were the features
in the latest summer night of fun
for adults served by JARC at the
annual Motown Summer Concert.
The event was filled with
Motown music performed by a
duo from The Crasherz, a nation-
al touring Motown music cover
band. JARC’s Motown Summer
Concert is a big hit among the
people JARC serves and especially
those who love to express them-
selves through song and dance.
This year’s Motown summer
concert was held at Congregation
Beth Shalom in Oak Park and wel-
comed 90 guests, including those
served by JARC and JARC staff.
Many people served by JARC
joined the musical duo on stage,
singing, dancing and even par-
ticipating in a conga line, while
others grooved to popular
songs, including “
Ain’t No
Mountain High Enough,
”
“Respect” and “Signed,
Sealed Delivered I’m Yours”
from their seats.
JARC strives to provide
many unique music oppor-
tunities for the people they
serve, as countless studies
have shown that music has the
potential benefits of stimulating
learning, allowing the expression
of emotions and strengthening
self-esteem for individuals with
disabilities.
