GERALD “JERRY”
KENNETH FLAGG,
91, of West
Bloomfield, lived his
life to the fullest until
Oct. 16, 2024.
A man of many
passions (and strong
opinions), Jerry was
smart, loving and
always ready to share
whatever book he had
most recently devoured. He was
a bridge-playing legend and a
staunch Green Bay Packers fan.
His other great loves included
Estes Park, Colorado, afternoon
naps, root beer floats and Old
Fashioneds.
He was born in Germany; and
after fleeing the Nazis, he grew
up in Wisconsin. He studied
engineering at Cornell and then
law at Detroit College of Law.
He eventually retired from the
practice of law and fine-tuned his
bridge game, surrounded himself
with books and glowed about
his children and grandchildren:
Jerry/Dad/Opa was their biggest
fan and always kept things
interesting for them.
He is survived by his dear
partner, Barbara Kovan. Jerry was
a proud father of Diane (William)
Goldstein, Sarah Flagg, and Bill
(Chelsea) Flagg. He adored his
grandchildren, Marlee, Jenna,
Quincy, Olive and Pearl. He is
also survived by his sister Ingrid
(Bud); and sister-in-law, Lynn.
Jerry was the son of the late
Kenneth and Anne Flagg; brother
of the late Harry; loving husband
of the late Marlene and then the
late Maxine.
Contributions may be made
to a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements by Dorfman
Chapel.
