but we found a common ground.

Kenett, meanwhile, describes the
union as “like a painting of three dif-
ferent circles, where you have the mid-

ABOUT THE MELODIES
On A Place For Lovers, their fusion
results in a smooth and melodically
sophisticated blend of sounds, marked
by a spectral ambience and spacious
song arrangements. RGB straddles a
line between classic and clever, with
chill dance grooves, atmospheric
electronic flavors and occasional
jazzy touches driving the songs’
contemporary pop approach.
Bartal notes that one track, “Write
About You,
” is a kind of intentional,
“in-your-face pop song” that he’
d not
attempted before.
“We started writing all the songs for
this album maybe three or four years

ago,
” Bartal notes. “I feel like,
since then, what counts as pop
today started leaning a little bit
more toward our direction, with
artists like Sabrina [Carpenter]
and Chappell Roan. It’s less
four-on-the-floor pop; it’s more
about the melodies. It’s about
the motion, the art.
”
Agam, who helms RGB’s
extensive video endeavors,
adds, “We also like to give that
twist with our lyrics. … This happy
melody that will get stuck in your
mind, but you’re saying, ‘I’m wildly
unhappy.
’ For us, it’s realizing you have
to embrace it all — all the colors, all
the feelings — to really enjoy life. It’s
about intimacy. It’s kind of a roller
coaster of an album.
”
That the songs are often inspired
by her relationship with Bartal only
makes things trickier, too.

“I’m writing and thinking, ‘Is he
going to catch onto that thing I said?’
or ‘Is he gonna notice?’” Noi says.
“There are these little, embarrassing
moments between us, but the honesty
is what keeps us close. Roy and I
can never sweep anything under the
carpet; we’ll find out in a song sooner
or later. It really keeps everything open
and out there.
”
So, does Kenett, as RGB’s third party,

ever wonder what he got himself into?
“It was during COVID, so I actually
didn’t have something better to do at
the time,
” he says as everyone laughs.
“But, no, I think they had released two
songs without me, and that’s all I had
to hear. I decided, like, ‘Omigod, this is
good music. I want to be part of it, and
I have time.
’ Being part of a band never
was something that was my dream,
but along the way it became
something I wished would
happen.
”
“We have this joke — none of
us knew what we were getting
into when we started, and now
here we are,
” Noi adds.
A Place For Lovers will
bring RGB to the U.S. for a
pair of performances in Los
Angeles in October. The trio is
contemplating a deluxe version of
the album with some additional
songs while also writing for its
next album, and Bartal says that
“maybe we’ll try to settle in North
America for a while,
” where Noi
has family in Toronto.
“We want to go to the world,
” he
explains. “We feel that our music
is something that is international. The
language is English, and the music
can speak to anyone. So, the focus is
getting out of our little nest here and
spreading it worldwide. We don’t know
what the future holds, but we definitely
know what we want.
”

A Place For Lovers is available on Spotify and

Apple Music.
