Association Award for Outstanding Achievement in Variety, Talk
or Sketch for his Everybody’s in L.A. series. “Thanks for represent-
ing our show so well with such class and enthusiasm.”
In Lyon’s acceptance speech, she thanked Mulaney for 15 years
of successful collaborations after their initial meeting in a tiny
editing suite at Saturday Night Live (SNL) on the 17th Floor at 30
Rock.

DRESSED LIKE AN EMMY
On the big day, Lyon had her glam squad all lined up. Her hair-
stylist’s husband was nominated — and won — for Outstanding
Special Visual Effects for Hulu’s Shōgun.
“Since they were in town, she styled my hair perfectly for the big
event. In the ‘Dress like an Emmy’ theme, we decided to do a giant
ball of curls on my head to mimic the sphere on the Emmy statue,”
says Lyon, a member of ACE (American Cinema Editors).
“I wore jewelry from all of the matriarchs of my family —
gold and diamond earrings and a gold watch from my Baba
Sarabelle Fishman, a gold and diamond ring from my Bubby,
Martha Brickner; and a gold and diamond necklace from my
mom, Cheryl Brickner.”
Lyon had a banner year, having been nominated for two of
the five shows in the Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety
Programming category. In addition to John Mulaney Presents
Everybody’s in L.A., Lyon was nominated for Tig Notaro: Hello
Again, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. And
Notaro’s director, who is also Notaro’s wife, Stephanie Allynne,
was nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for
Hello Again.
The editing for Tig Notaro: Hello Again was done entirely
remotely from Lyon’s home editing studio in Portland.
“It was a great collaboration with both Tig and Stephanie,” Lyon
says. “We were all so excited to be at the Creative Arts Emmys.”
