the AAPD stands against antisemitism
and an investigation is underway.
(Anderson) added that he will work
with the County Prosecutor’s Office to
aggressively prosecute those who are
responsible.
”
Rosen, who also wrote that the
assault marred what has otherwise
been an “incredible” start
to the semester with 300
students attending the
first Shabbat dinner of
the fall, continued: “The
safety of our students
is our highest priority,
and we appreciate law
enforcement’s quick
response. We know this is difficult
news to hear especially as we are just

beginning the school year. To anyone
in our community who needs some-
one to talk to or a welcome place,
please know the Hillel team is here for
you.
”
ADL Chief Executive
Officer Jonathan
Greenblatt said the orga-
nization is putting up a
$5K reward for any infor-
mation leading to the
arrest of the attackers.
On X, Greenblatt
stated: “The ADL is horrified to learn
of an alleged antisemitic assault on a
Jewish (University of Michigan) stu-
dent. We are grateful to Ann Arbor
Police, who are investigating this as a
hate crime.

“We are calling on state and local government leaders to
protect our students,” Rosenzweig told the JN. “As a Jewish
community, it is also our job to protect our students.
“Some of us are doing things like attending rallies, calling our
local officials and trying to get support for the Unmask the Hate
initiative. We can also make donations to Jewish organizations
on campus (like Hillel and Chabad) because they serve as a safe
Jewish haven for our students,” he said.
“Speaking up for our students is all our responsibility.”

In celebration of Rosh Hashanah,
the First Hebrew Congregation of
South Haven will host an apples
and honey outing from 10:30 a.m
until 12 noon on Sunday, Oct. 6 at

eat apples and honey during these
holidays.

is no charge for the event. To regis-
