ARC recently hosted another
installment of Dogs and
Donuts, an event that brings
together the people they serve
with certified therapy dogs to
enjoy their company and snack
on sweet treats. Dogs and Donuts
was created in 2022 with the help
of JARC volunteer Susan Tauber,
who wanted to offer adults with
developmental disabilities who are
served by JARC an opportunity
to spend time with the trained
therapy dogs, as interaction with
therapy dogs has been found to
enhance social interaction and

reduce stress for some individuals.
The event was hosted outdoors
on a recent summer evening
in the backyard of JARC’s
Blumberg home and was attended
by 39 adults served by JARC.
There were five therapy dogs
accompanied by their handlers at
the event, and the guests visited
with the dogs while enjoying
delicious kosher donuts.
