Shofar Factory
Festival: Kindness
Edition

OUR COMMUNITY

T

he Sherrill Berman Shofar Factory
Festival is back again, but with an
important twist.
“
As we conclude a particularly difficult
year for the Jewish people, it seems only
right to combat all the evil, hate and
suffering we’ve seen and experienced with
goodness, kindness and giving,” says Rabbi Shneur Silberberg,
who leads the annual event..
At Shofar Factory this year, you’ll have the opportunity to do just that, alongside
the familiar fun, food, music and fascination the event provides.
On the kindness front: You’ll pack gifts for children of victims of terror, create
beautiful charity boxes to support Israeli evacuated families and help pack holiday
gifts for seniors living nearby. There will also be a “life-giving center” for adults
to be swabbed to determine if they are a match for several members of our
community who await a life-saving bone marrow transplant.
On the fun/educational front: You’ll carve your own shofar, learn from a
beekeeper, write your Hebrew name on parchment with a scribe, enjoy the music
of a Klezmer band, indulge in a hot lunch of a Kosher food truck and make a
honey cake to bring sweetness to the year ahead.
It all takes place on Sunday, Sept. 22, 1-4 p.m. at the JCC in West Bloomfield.
Register for your family today at www.shofarfactoryfestival.com. (Activities with
limited availability will be made accessible to those who register early.)
Volunteers are needed! Would you like to volunteer? Do you know a high school
student looking for community mitzvah hours? Reach out to Rabbi Silberberg at
rabbishneur@baischabad.com if you can help.
