SHABAZZ, 77, of Ann 
Arbor, died Aug. 21, 
2024. 

She is survived 

by her partner, John 

Stewart; daughters, Miriam

Hakima Hawkins (Kevin); grand-
children, Octavia Morais, Shantee 
Perdue and Jazmin Hawkins; 
sister-in-law, Kathleen Gordon; 
nieces and nephews, Kate (Thoralf) 
Barthel, Peter (Mia) Gordon and 
Jeffrey Gordon; great-nephew, 
Fritz; great-nieces, Matilda and 
RubyLu; many other loving family 
members and friends. 

Ruth was the wife of the late 

Askia Shabazz; sister of the late Joel 
Gordon.

Interment took place at United 

Memorial Gardens Cemetery in 
Plymouth. Contributions may be

PHILIP TAYLOR, 92, 
of West Bloomfield, 
died Aug. 27, 2024. 

Born and raised in 

Brooklyn, New York, to 
Jack and Jeanne Taylor, 

“PT” was a veteran of the Korean 

War and supported fellow veterans 
throughout his life. 

Philip was in the jewelry busi-

ness and was well known through-
out the community. He was a 
member of Downtown Synagogue 
for many years and an avid tennis 
and golf player. A true Detroit 
sports fanatic, he followed all the 
local teams. 

Mr. Taylor is survived by his 

beloved wife, Esther Taylor; 
daughters and sons-in-law, Jill 
and Wayne Foran, Lisa and James 
Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, 
John and Jeanie Taylor, Kevin 
and Lisa Taylor; grandchildren, 
Ashley Behrens, Danielle Blum, 
Skyler Blum, Kaetlin Taylor, Emily 
Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Laura Taylor, 
Christopher Hill, Nicholas Hill, 
Jacob Taylor, Arye Taylor and 
Rachel Taylor; five great-grand-
children; many other loving family 
members and friends, including his 
nephew, Michael Gordon. 

Philip was the beloved husband 

of the late Beverly Taylor; dear 
brother of the late Saralee Gordon; 
the late brother-in-law and best 
friend of Wally Gordon. 

Interment took place at Adat 

Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery 
in Livonia. Contributions may be 
made to the Holocaust Memorial 
Center or the Disabled American 
Veterans. Arrangements by 
Dorfman Chapel.
