Hartman 50th

obie and Thomas Hartman of 
Farmington Hills celebrated 
their 50th wedding 
anniversary. They met in a grocery 
store in the onions section and 
have been sharing tears of joy 
ever since. Sharing in this occasion 
were their children, Brian Hartman, 
Marcie and Eugene Weissberger, 
Steven and Caitlin Hartman; and 
their grandchildren, Evan, Jake, and 
Sloane Weissberger and Henry, 
Madelyn and Alice Hartman.

Kent 70th
S

andy and Morrie Kent of 
Royal Oak celebrated their 
70th wedding anniversary 
on Sept. 4, 2024. They met at the 
old Jewish Center on Woodward. 
They are the proud parents of Fran 
(Roy) Terbrack, Lori (Rich) Baker 
and Dennis Kent. They are blessed 
with 12 grandchildren, 20 great-
grandchildren and one on the way. 
They celebrated with family.

Erin and Daniel Tochen of West Bloomfield are 
thrilled to announce the birth of their daughter, Reese 
Dylan Tochen (Reesa Margalit). She is welcomed 
into the world by proud big brother Jordan and her 
grandparents, Elaine and Barry Margolis of Ann Arbor, 
and Mary Beth Schiffman and David Tochen of Bethesda, Md. 
Excited great-grandmothers are Maxine Schiffman and Irene 
Lusky. Reese is named in honor of her late great-uncle Drew 
Tochen; her Hebrew name honors Erin’s maiden name and all the 
Margolises that came before.

Ilana Kalmowitz, 
daughter of Cantor 
Rachel and Carey 
Kalmowitz, will be 
called to the Torah 
as a bat mitzvah on 
Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at 
Temple Beth El in Bloomfield 
Township. Ilana’s proud family 
includes her brothers, Eitan 
(and his wife, Adina) and Ezra 
(and his partner, Alexa); grand-
parents, Julie and David 
Bernstein, and Mel Kalmowitz; 
and many aunts, uncles and 
cousins.
She is an incoming 
eighth-grader at Detroit 
Country Day School in Beverly 
Hills. For her mitzvah proj-
ects, Ilana is participating in 
PeerCorps and volunteering 
with various dog and cat res-
cues/daycares.

Ava Fay Sheridan, 
daughter of Carly 
and James Sheridan, 
will be called to the 
Torah as a bat mitz-
vah at Temple Israel 
in West Bloomfield on Saturday, 
Sept. 7, 2024. She will be 
joined in celebration by her 
brothers, Connor and Noah. 
Ava is the loving grandchild of 
Kacy Max, Michael and Michelle 
Max, and Tanya and Steve 
Sheridan. She is the adoring 
great-grandchild of Dolores 
Max. 
Ava is a student at Hillel Day 
School of Metropolitan Detroit 
in Farmington Hills. Her most 
meaningful mitzvah project was 
making fleece blankets and 
donating them to rescue dogs 
at Detroit Dog Rescue.
