The J works to strengthen the Detroit 
Jewish community by offering a plat-
form of programming and services 
for all. The J aims to improve the 
physical, social, spiritual and educa-
tional well-being of the community. It 
offers programming within its building 
in West Bloomfield, online and in 
locations as diverse as parks, coffee 
shops and synagogues offering pro-
gramming in four key areas: culture 
and education, seniors, children and 
families, and recreation. The Sarah & 
Irving Pitt Early Childhood Center and 
a comprehensive range of summer 
camp options are also on offer. While 
The J is a place of Jewish values, 
everyone is welcome regardless of 
age, gender, race, religion, ethnicity,

JARC is a nonprofit, nonsectarian 
organization founded in 1969 by a 
group of parents concerned about 
the future of their children with 
developmental disabilities. Today, 
JARC is known as a prototype for 
innovative, high-quality residential 
and support programs for people 
with developmental disabilities. 
JARC serves more than 150 peo-
ple in 45 locations in Oakland 
County, including group homes, 
independent living and in-home 
respite care.

The heart of a stronger community, 
we provide older adult services such 
as case management, door-through-
door transportation, Kosher Meals 
on Wheels and Holocaust survivor 
assistance; mental health and well-
ness services such as counseling, sui-
cide prevention trainings and youth/
school-based services; safety net ser-
vices such as basic needs assistance, 
public benefits enrollment and health 
care navigation. We also provide out-
reach to the Orthodox and Russian-
speaking communities.
