A
special springtime tradition for
gardeners and volunteers alike is the
annual JARC Flower-a-thon event
that beautifies the homes of people served by
JARC. This year, with help from 44 volunteers,
weeds were pulled, new mulch was placed and
beautiful flowers were planted at six homes.
The 2024 JARC Flower-a-thon was a four-
day effort taking place from May 31 to June 3,
and included volunteers from Bloom Advisors,
Racquet Up Detroit, the University of Michigan
Alumni Association’s Club of Greater Detroit,
JARC’s Tony Richman Teen Action Project and
other community members who offered their
time to support the people JARC serves by
beautifying the homes’ gardens.
The annual JARC Flower-a-thon and so
many other events and activities are made
possible by the time and talents of those who
volunteer for the nonprofit. JARC always
welcomes new volunteers to help them achieve
their mission of enriching the lives of adults
with developmental disabilities. To volunteer,

Tierney at (248) 940-2607 or jessica.tieney@
