Winter Perpetual Care 
Policy Change at 
Beth El Memorial Park

In late July, a letter was sent to 
individuals who had purchased 
winter perpetual care at Beth El 
Memorial Park (BEMP) which 
includes sections for the Temple 
Israel, Shir Shalom, Emanu-El 
and Shir Tikvah communities.
The letter from Temple Beth 
El shared that their congregation, 
in partnership with Sloane 
Consulting and Elmwood 
Cemetery, had made the decision 
that winter perpetual care 
program would cease to exist in 
the same way it was originally 
created.
Individuals who purchased 
winter perpetual care for a grave 
in any of the sections at BEMP 
would now need to “opt-in” 
to receive this service going 
forward.
Members of the community 
who wish to have a loved one’s 
grave covered with an outdoor 
blanket or wreath-like decoration 
this winter must reach out to 
Beth El and request the winter 
décor by Sunday, Sept. 1, as stated 
in the letter.

décor for the coming season can 
be done by contacting BEMP
