34 | AUGUST 15 • 2024 J N C habad of Troy signed the purchase agreement on a future campus, which will become a home for every Jewish person in the area and will serve as a center for everything Jewish. In conjunction with this special occasion, Chabad of Troy is also hosting its First Annual Jewish Car Show from 10 a.m.-noon Sunday, Aug. 18. The fun takes place at its new building at 4050 Coolidge Highway in Troy. The idea for a local Jewish car show took place last year, when a member of Chabad of Troy offered to sponsor and help arrange the event. This year, the entire community is invited. This event promises to be a spectacular gathering, celebrating both a passion for automobiles and the exciting future of Chabad of Troy. All Jewish car enthusiasts are invited to bring their prized vehicles to the event: classic, a modern marvel or anything in between — the Jewish community would love to see it. Even if you don’t have a car to show, come for a morning of fun and fellowship and a range of activities, including kosher snacks and drinks, live music and an art exhibit by a Holocaust survivor, offering a meaningful cultural touchstone. Visitors will be able to walk through the new building intended to become a central hub for Jewish life in Troy. “Moving to Michigan almost five years ago, the whole car thing was new to me, ” explained Chabad of Troy’s Rabbi Menachem Caytak. “But now I am really embracing the culture, and what can be better than bringing cars and Jews together for a great event?” “The event is more than just a car show; it’s a celebration of community, culture and the exciting future that lies ahead, ” Rabbi Caytak said. “Chabad of Troy is eager to share this moment with you and looks forward to seeing both familiar faces and new friends. ” To register, go to jewishtroy.com/car.
