community walk, arts & crafts,

a.m. to noon. If interested, fill
out a volunteer interest form at

Friendship Circle’s 20th annual
Walk4Friendship is on Sept.

150 volunteers are needed to
work registration, distribute
T-shirts, hand out food, monitor
entertainment and activities and
more. For those who are planning
on walking at the event and would
still like to volunteer, second shift
opportunities are available. The

Neighborhood House in
Rochester walks the path toward
self-sustainability with our
neighbors during times of hardship
by supporting individuals in
need, through forward-thinking
programs. Serving over 3,000 local
households a year, Neighborhood
House uses an approach built on
compassion and inclusion for all
neighbors experiencing a time of
hardship. It takes 100 volunteers to
operate Neighborhood House on
a weekly basis! Help is needed in
the main office Monday through
Friday in the areas of reception,
client program assistance and
administrative support. Food
Pantry volunteers set up the pantry
to prepare for client shopping and
assist clients with their food orders.
Lastly, volunteers are needed at the

Clothes Closet to help with sorting
donations and assisting clients.

How could one possibly measure

the value of holding the hand of a
recently diagnosed cancer patient,
of comforting a hospitalized child,
or offering companionship to a
lonely patient? These are just a
few of the kindnesses extended to
others by the team of dedicated
volunteers at Henry Ford Hospital
West Bloomfield. Volunteers greet
guests with a smile and escort
them to their destination, get
blankets for a patient who is feeling
cold, comfort family members,
provide healing music, conduct pet
therapy visits, and support staff by
performing various administrative
duties. If this interests you, visit
henryford.com/locations/
west-bloomfield/volunteer.

If your organization is looking for volunteers,

email Samantha Foon at samanthafoon14@

upcoming column.
