tution, and that was the main
thing for me.

It’s that group mindset, he
says, that’s kept him at Temple
Israel for so many years.

As somebody once said,
‘The best idea wins,
’” Tisdale
describes. “If there’s a discussion
over something, it’s the best idea
that wins, not the person.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
While a commitment to its
families and proactive deci-
sion-making are key reasons
Tisdale remained with Temple
Israel, it’s ultimately the people
who inspired his career.
“We take really good care of
our people,
” he says. “That keeps
you in a place.

Tisdale notes excellent rela-
tionships with temple clergy, as
well as the 20-plus presidents
who have served throughout his
tenure. “Each president brings a
different talent to the table,
” he
says, “and we try to help them
have a fabulous experience for
two years.

Overall, “there are some great
people here,
” Tisdale adds. Yet
it’s not just clergy and lay lead-
ers; it’s the programming depart-
ment, educators and office staff
who have made Temple Israel a
place where Tisdale calls himself
“lucky” to have built a career.
Although Tisdale has no big
plans for retirement, he hopes to
travel and partake in one of his
favorite pastimes, photography,
and spend time with his three
grandchildren.
As he steps down for the final
time, Tisdale believes Temple
Israel will continue looking
forward and expanding both
existing and new offerings.
“We’re going to strengthen
what we already have going,
” he
says. “We’re taking that into the
future.
