gregation.
“What we don’t want to happen is
BBYO just absorbs all teen engagement
for the community,” Vieder says. “It’s
still important that teens feel connected
to and maintain an identity with their
congregation. So, as we’re building out
these partnerships. That’s something
we’re being thoughtful about. We’re not
really touching the chapter. It’s staying
the same. The regional and international
connections are what changes.”
Rabbi Lader is excited for the added

access and benefits this partnership
allows for youth group teens, most
of all allowing them to “break out of
the bubble,” whether that be through
summer programs, domestic and
international travel programs or even
the opportunity to run for regional and
national leadership positions to take on
a more profound leadership role in the
greater Jewish community.
“In this moment for American Jews,
there’s literally nothing more important
than our young people feeling proud,

confident, educated and supported by
their communities and by each other,”
Lader said. “I think this partnership will
deepen these teens’ relationships to each
other, to mentors and institutions in the
area. In a post-October landscape, it’s
gonna give these teens not just a safety
net, but a rocketship to be who they’re
going to be in the future.
“For this moment, it’s more essential
than ever before for our teens to have
relationships with other Jews around the
world.”
