MEGA SOLIDARITY EVENT
Our encounter with Birthright
ended that night on a high
note at the Mega Solidarity
Event held at the tourist spot
Mini Israel. Nearly 2,000
Birthright participants,
Onward volunteers and Excel
interns, along with donors and
soldiers, gathered as the sun
set for a strolling Israeli dinner
and a concert featuring Israeli
Eurovision contestant Eden
Golan as the main headliner
for the evening.
British-Israeli social media
influencer Eylon Levy also
made an appearance, urging
students to take the positive
energy they gained in Israel
back to their campuses around
the world.
“You are not Gen-Z; you
are Gen-Zionists,
” Levy said.
“Being GenZionist means
standing up to bullies. We
need you to be the young
Jewish resistance against the
Campus Tentifada because if
you don’t stand up for your-
selves — nobody will stand up
for you.
”

It’s that lasting resilience
after students depart Israel
that Birthright’s leaders are
counting on as the program
strives to build back its post-
war numbers. Enrollment
for winter programs has
already opened.
Birthright CEO Gidi
Mark emphasized the orga-
nization’s profound lasting
impact on shaping today’s
Jewish leaders. Mark point-
ed out that 50% of the top
posts in key Jewish orga-
nizations are populated by
Birthright alumni. It was
also Birthright alumni who
found the strength and
resolve to testify before
Congress about the antisem-
itism they experienced in
college, he added.
“The 10 days a young adult
spends with us in Israel can
be the most impactful days to
shaping their Jewish identity,
from the friends they make to
the understanding they gain
about the land of Israel itself,
”
Mark said. “Even during a
war, we take the responsibil-
ity very seriously knowing
that Birthright is the bridge
between Jews in Israel and
Jews in the diaspora.
”
