ike many young professionals who 
venture to Los Angeles to build 
a career, Orchard Lake native 
and Hillel Day School graduate Cory 
Charlupski had a grand vision.
After graduating from the University 
of Michigan in 2009 and later Loyola 
Law School in 2013, Charlupski, 37, 
pursued a lucrative career in real estate 
law, drafting real estate transactions 
totaling in the hundreds of millions. Still, 
something was missing.
“I just wanted to be out there,” he says. 
“I wanted to be the one making the deals 
instead of the one writing the deals. I’d 
rather be out in the field than behind the 
desk.”
With his outgoing demeanor and 
extroverted personality, it was a natural 
pivot for Charlupski to transform his 
career from real estate law to real estate 
sales.
After a few years working on his 
own in real estate, Charlupski joined 
the Douglas Elliman Real Estate 
brokerage in 2016. He was tasked with 
heading up a Los Angeles branch of 
the EKLUND | GOMES team, which 
sells high-end property.
