ART + FRAME Expands to West Bloomfield ASHLEY ZLATOPOLSKY CONTRIBUTING WRITER A s the Bloomfield Hills business was ready to expand, Jewish-owned custom framing and art gallery ART + FRAME considered several locations for its second storefront. Owners Brad and Danielle Gordon first looked at Capitol Park in Detroit, then Ferndale. Finally, they discovered the perfect location to expand the business in West Bloomfield. A storefront in Crosswinds Mall on Orchard Lake Road had sat empty since 2019. For the Gordons, who purchased the orig- inal Bloomfield Hills storefront in 2018 from its previous owners, the promising West Bloomfield loca- tion couldn’t be more ideal. The plaza was also home to co-tenants that included a postal business where framed art could be mailed, as well as a children’s craft studio that gave kids and their fam- ilies the opportunity to stop at ART + FRAME to frame their prized creations. “It’s a desirable area, but it’s still an underserved market, ” Brad Gordon, 35, of Farmington Hills, explains. The West Bloomfield space originally housed the Danielle Peleg Art Gallery, mak- ing its new shot at life as ART + FRAME come full-circle. Given the former use of the space, Gordon anticipates a need for framing in the area. “There’s starting to be fewer and fewer art framing shops, ” he says. “I wanted to make sure that this is a craft that not only stays alive, but that people continue to take care of their artwork and their heirlooms. ” A PERSONAL TOUCH While consumers can easily go to Michaels or other big-box retailers for framing needs, Gordon says the personal touch is lost when choos- ing frames that are mass produced. “There’s a different level of expertise in our shops that people tend to trust and like, ” he says of the combined total of 50 years’ experience amongst the ART + FRAME team. “I’ve always equated BUSINESS The ribbon-cutting of the new location.
