opportunity to work closely with some
of the world’s leading brokers, including
Fredrik Elkund of Million Dollar Listing
New York and Mauricio Umansky of
Buying Beverly Hills and Dancing with
The Stars. However, it was a surprise
opportunity that led Charlupski to once
again eye Detroit and return home.
BACK TO THE MOTOR CITY
While giving a tour in Los Angeles to
New York City-based Bruce Ehrmann of
Douglas Elliman’s Anderson-Ehrmann
team, Charlupski learned of a new
development happening in the Motor
City. “I said, ‘What are you doing in
Detroit?’” Charlupski recalls.
The Detroit project in the works turned
out to be The Residences at The Detroit
EDITION, a new and upcoming luxury
residential project at the historic Hudson’s
Detroit site, for which Douglas Elliman
would be leading marketing and sales.
Located at 1208 Woodward Ave., The
Residences at The Detroit EDITION are
slated for completion in 2027, with sales
for high-rise residences beginning this
summer.
Charlupski asked Ehrmann who the
sales director would be. He said, “We’re
looking,” to which Charlupski replied,
“Well, it’s me. There’s no one who loves
Detroit [like me] and is from Detroit,
but also has experience selling high-rise
luxury new developments.”
The deal was struck, and Charlupski
landed the job of leading sales for The
Residences. He moved back to Detroit
two months ago, setting up shop in the
city as the project continues to garner
excitement.
Most recently, General Motors also
announced the move of its global
headquarters to Hudson’s, which will be
the second-tallest skyscraper in Detroit
and a neighbor of The Residences at The
Detroit EDITION.
The 45-story tower will include 97
one-to-four-bedroom condominium
residences. In all, the entire project
comprises multiple parts, including a five-
star hotel, retail and commercial space.
CONTINUING A LEGACY
Since returning home, Charlupski has
reestablished his roots in Metro Detroit’s
Jewish community. He recently joined
Adat Shalom Synagogue and Isaac Agree
Downtown Synagogue, which is in short
walking distance from The Residences.
He also hopes to continue his family’s
activism in Jewish Metro Detroit, which
includes support of both Congregation
Shaarey Zedek and the Zekelman
Holocaust Center.
As the grandson of Holocaust
survivors, Charlupski says honoring
his grandparents’ memory is one of
his biggest missions in life. In his new
home in Detroit hangs a photo of his
grandparents. “They’re a reminder every
day that life here is not so bad,” he says.
Charlupski is also working on growing
his activism in the Metro Detroit real
estate community. Come February 2025,
he’ll be heading up the Detroit arm of
the Real Estate Rumble, a charity boxing
event that raises money for local charities.
He hopes these efforts will be the
beginning of a vibrant and rewarding
career and philanthropic mission in
Metro Detroit and his hometown Jewish
community.
“My plan is to definitely stay in
Detroit,” he says. “
A lot of people have
asked me, ‘Where are you going next?’
But you know, this is home for me. This
is where I want to establish my roots.”
