Rebecca earned both her 
bachelor’s in science and 
doctor of dental surgery 
degrees from the University 
of Michigan. Payam earned a bachelor’s degree at 
Queens College and received a radiologic technologist 
certificate from Harlem Hospital-Columbia University 
affiliate. 
An August wedding is planned at Congregation 
Shaarey Zedek in Southfield.

the son of Keith and Holly

of Paul Newcombe. Karli is 
the sister of Andy Filips and 
the granddaughter of Ann 
Rogin-Alpern and Patricia 
Filips. 
Karli and Mason earned degrees from the University 
of Alabama and reside in Atlanta, Ga. Karli is a 
mergers and acquisitions consultant at KPMG. Mason 
is a live events associate director for Warner Bros. 
Discovery.

Dubin to Lyle Rothman, son of 
Varda and Steven Rothman of 
East Islip, N.Y.
Sam earned his bachelor of 
science from Central Michigan 
University. He is the interim 
director of community rela-
tions at Jewish Federation of 
Detroit.
Lyle earned his bachelor of arts from Hofstra 
University, where he majored in Judaic Studies. He 
was ordained as a rabbi in 2012 from Hebrew Union 
College-Jewish Institute of Religion and holds an 
M.A. in Hebrew Literature and an M.A. in Religious 
Education from Hebrew Union College-JIR. Lyle is an 
associate rabbi at The Community Synagogue.
Sam and Lyle live in Manhasset, N.Y.
A July 4, 2024, wedding took place at The 
Community Synagogue in Port Washington, N.Y. Rabbi 
Irwin Zeplowitz and Cantor Claire Franco officiated.

Rose is named in loving memory of her paternal great-
grandmother Betty Rose Pianin and maternal great-
great-grandmother Rose Lyons.
