In 1909, Hakoah Vienna’s Jewish soccer team formed
in response to rising antisemitism. By the 1920s, the
team had become European champions. When the
Nazis annexed Austria in 1938, the team was
confronted with the Holocaust. What followed was
both a tragedy and a largely untold story of survival.

Join scholar Michael Lower for an in-person
presentation on the legendary team that defied
hate to dominate the game.
