habad Jewish Center
of Troy celebrated
Passover this year in
the American Legion Hall in
downtown Rochester with over
100 local Jews coming together
to share a delicious gourmet
four-course meal catered by
Chef Cari Catering and an
inspirational seder led by
Rabbi Menachem Caytak.
For many Jews, this was their
first time celebrating Passover
in many years and, for some, it
was their first time ever!
Larry Sherman, a local Jew
from the eastside, remarked,
“Besides an interesting service,
as we walked around the
very substantial crowd, we
were struck by the number of
people we have come to meet
through classes, events and
prayer services. This is such an
amazing community.”

The evening started with the
meal, followed by two engaging
games that got people involved
with the spirit of Passover.
Then the seder was conducted
in an interactive way.
The seder was done in a
beginner’s style so that many
Jews who were learning about
Passover for the first time were
able to join and follow what
was happening.
Every table was encouraged
to read aloud one paragraph
of the Haggadah and people
really got involved.

For Elijah’s cup, everyone
went outside and sang
Elijah’s song and heard a
beautiful message from Rabbi
Menachem about giving, hope
and peace.

For all those who stayed
to the end, they were gifted
a beautiful wine bottle cover
designed and produced by
Adam Kollin.
