ave you ever found yourself in a situation where
you are merely going through the motions? Has
one of those movements been literally to step
aside? You might think that is so if you consider the
commonplace use of turn in our speech.
When planning an extensive project, we are
often concerned with the turnaround time. If
workers are efficient, they are done by the
time you turn around. Try not to be intrusive in
their work but do not turn a blind eye either.
Been feeling sorry for yourself? Maybe it is
time to turn over a new leaf and gain a better
attitude. You may find this a way to take a turn
for the better.
If planning revenge, remember that turnabout is fair play.
This may lead you into dark places. Perhaps it would be
better to consider that one good turn deserves another and
not to speak out of turn.
When driving, it is vital that you remain aware of signs
that indicate right, left or no U-turns. They seem
to appear at every turn. But, too often in life, we do
not know where to turn for help.
Does the positioning of ceiling fans frustrate you? It is
hard to remember which season determines turning the
blade rotation clockwise or counterclockwise. In trying to
find the directions, you may turn your living quarters upside
down.
A nice trip to make is through Canada and New England
when the leaves are turning.
Many local horror films concern otherwise mild
town residents turning into werewolves or
vampires. It may not be the best move to
watch one of these films just before you
turn in.
There are some infamous figures in
history who were known as turncoats.
To end with some levity
(questionable though it may be),
here is a riddle: When is a car not
a car? Of course, it is when it turns into
a driveway.
