Targeted for Metro Detroit individuals with developmental
disabilities and sensory sensitivities and their caregivers.

accessible, sensory-friend-
ly event is the opposite of
what a carnival is often per-
ceived to be — crowded and
overstimulating. We have
incorporated spaces and
opportunities to decompress
and recenter, while enjoying
all the fun of a traditional
carnival.”
The carnival is part of
JARC’s summer-long Ellen
Labes Festival Series spon-
sored by the Family of Ellen
Labes. Other events in the
summer series include a
sensory-friendly Detroit
Symphony Orchestra con-
cert, a picnic in the park
with a sensory-friendly

drumming activity, and a
Motown Summer Concert.
Dietary laws will be
observed at the carnival
with kosher hot dogs and
refreshments available for
purchase and free popcorn,
snow cones and water pro-
vided at the event which will
be held in the parking lot
of Adat Shalom Synagogue
(29901 Middlebelt Road,
Farmington Hills).
Tickets for family mem-
bers can be purchased for
$20 per individual or $50
per family. The carnival is
not open to the greater pub-
lic. To reserve tickets, visit
