attend a carnival
specifically geared to accom-
modate people with devel-
opmental disabilities and/
or sensory sensitivities, and
their caregivers and families
on Sunday, June 9, from noon
to 4 p.m.
Hosted by JARC, a
Bloomfield Hills-based non-
profit that serves individuals
with developmental disabili-
ties, the second annual carni-
val is free for individuals with
developmental disabilities
and/or sensory sensitivities
and their caregivers, and will
include carnival rides and
games, music, snacks and
entertainment, alongside
sensory-friendly, quiet spaces
to accommodate anyone with
sensory needs.

New to the carnival this
year will be vendors and
partner agencies featuring
products and services to
assist families and caregivers
in helping people with devel-
opmental disabilities and/or
sensory sensitivities live their
best lives.

“We knew there was a
demand for a community
event like JARC’s carnival,
but when more than 500
people attended last year, we
realized this was an over-
whelming need,” said JARC
Chief Executive Officer
Shaindle Braunstein. “Our

JARC Carnival
Looking for
Volunteers on
June 9

As JARC prepares for
the second annual free
carnival for individuals with
developmental disabilities
and/or sensory sensitivities
and their caregivers, the
nonprofit agency is looking
for volunteers to assist at
the event on Sunday, June
9, during shifts that run from
11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. or 1:30
p.m.-4 p.m.
Lunch is provided to
all volunteers, as is free
entry to the carnival before
or after your volunteer
shift. Volunteer positions
include but are not limited
to food servers, game
operators and bounce
house supervisors. Shift
positions will be confirmed
upon arrival at the event.
All volunteers will receive
instructions for their shift
responsibilities.
