‘THE PROM’

Birmingham Village Players 
will stage The Prom, a 
joyous, funny and sweet 
production that will appeal 
to musical fans. A high 
school student dreams of 
taking her girlfriend to their 
senior prom. Unfortunately, 
her plans are foiled by 
a homophobic PTA. 
Performances are Friday 
and Saturday nights (May 
10, 11, 17, 18) at 8 pm and 
Sunday afternoons (May 
12, 19) at 2 pm. Reserved 
tickets are $25 (includes 
ticketing fee) and can

MAKING KUGEL 
6:30 PM, MAY 9 (THURS.) 
At Temple Beth El in 
Bloomfield Township with 
in-house caterer Paul 
Wertz of Platinum Dish 
Catering. Every participant 
will walk away with a 
9x9 pan of kugel (just in 
time for Mother’s Day), 
with the option to choose 
between a delectable 
non-dairy sweet kugel or a 

creamy dairy version. Plus, 
everyone gets to indulge in 
a tantalizing kugel sample 
at the event itself. Tickets:

music world. Her love of 
bluegrass comes from her 
father (a music teacher and 
multi-instrumentalist) and 
grandfather (a banjo player 
whose Illinois farm she 
visited often throughout her

YOUTH ENSEMBLES

At Orchestra Hall in Detroit. 
Showcasing the Civic 
Youth Ensembles, this all-
day concert experience 
will feature 10 ensembles, 
including string orchestras, 
wind ensembles, jazz bands 
and philharmonic orchestra.

The annual memorial for 
Yom HaZikaron; remember 
the victims of Oct. 7 and the 
soldiers lost in the ongoing

speaker Yadin Gellman, an 
IDF elite unit hero who was 
severely wounded on Oct. 
7 fighting in Kibbutz Be’eri.

Holocaust survivors and

longer with us. Hear firsthand 
accounts from Sophie 
Klisman, an Auschwitz 
survivor, and her daughter, 
Lori Ellis. Elizabeth Silver, a 
cherished friend of Sophie’s, 
will also speak about her 
experience as a prisoner 
in Siberia. A tea luncheon 
will be served in Temple 
Beth El’s outdoor tent. All 
attendees will be required 
to sign a Hadassah Event 
participation release to 
attend Hadassah in-person
