His passion for baking (and babka)
is so great that he recently got his own
puppy and named him — yes — Babka.
Jacob has exercised his passion in
other ways. He’s recently been putting
on babka-baking classes. “Jacob’s Babka
Bakes,” they’re called.
Jacob’s sister is a program director
for Friendship Circle in New York City.
She’s had him come out and lead babka-
baking classes two different times for
teenagers and young adults.
He’s done similar demonstrations
locally, one for students at The Shul-
Chabad Lubavitch in West Bloomfield
and another for the Chaya Mushka Girls
High School in Oak Park.
He also led a class at the West
Bloomfield Library last month, but
with rugelach instead of babka. The
demonstrations have been a success —
and more are on the horizon.
“His direct supervisor, Josh, will
typically go with him. But they let Jacob
lead the demonstration, and he goes
around and shows them how to properly
make it. Jacob seems to really have fun
doing that,” Ethan said.
