Simon has co-chaired
the Book Fair at The
J for the past three
years. She also bakes
bread monthly for the
nonprofit Kneaded with
Love, which serves the
unhoused, delivers Kosher
Meals on Wheels, serves
as a Friendly Visitor with
Jewish Family Service and
is involved annually in
Bookstock. Her mother was
active in NCJW|MI, as well
as other Jewish causes, and
Simon followed in her foot-
steps by becoming an active
member as a young adult.
She is co-chair and par-
ticipant on multiple NCJW
committees, was president
from 2012 to 2014, and is
most proud of initiating
NCJW MI’s Back to School
Store in 2014, which has
become a national program.
Simon’s extraordinary vol-
unteerism at NCJW/MI
has not gone unnoticed by
its national organization,
which awarded her the cov-
eted Hannah G. Solomon
Award in 2022, named after
its founder.
